The geography in my local area is an extremely large rural county with 2.4 M residents. We have a demographic of approximately 43% Hispanic. I have worked to provide Spanish programs to our local area as a top priority. I am very committed to serving all our contacts in a culturally appropriate manner. Having worked with many donors at the State Level when on the NAMI CA Board and regionally at the affiliate level and having managed the NAMIWalks Inland Empire for 17 years I have had experience with many donors and sponsors. I understand the mission of the organization and have worked over the years with donors who continue to support the mission of NAMI at many levels. I was on NAMI CA Board for 6 years and served one year as President. I managed a Behavioral Health Full-Service Partnership as a Program Administrator with a budget of 2.1 M for 3 years. I did the hiring and firing at that time forth is program and had a staff of 22 under my supervision. I understand the many evolving issues related to programs, policies and infrastructure and appreciate the interdependence between these entities and will use my expertise to engage in dialogue to advise the organization as a board member in the best interests of the organization. My son was incarcerated for 8 years and had many experiences with the CJ system. I have shared the experiences of my son and brother with LE during CIT trainings.

I have taught the NAMI Family to Family class over 30 times and am a State Trainer. Additionally I am trained in numerous NAMI programs. Managing NAMIWalks Inland Empire has increased awareness of NAMI. I work with schools and provide support for NAMI on High School Campus and Ending the Silence presentations. I am an Executive Director and work with my local NAMI affiliates and support them in many ways. I am on the Behavioral Health Commission and advocate at the County level for programs and services. I attend Chamber and other local meetings to increase awareness of NAMI locally.

I have been Executive Director Council Chair 5 years and Chaired 5 EDLE Conference Committees that included NAMI staff and ED’s. We organized 5 amazing Conferences. I have served ex-officio on the following NAMI Committees. NAMI Board Policy and Governance for 2 years. NAMI Finance and Audit Committee for one year. NAMI Policy and Advocacy Committee for 4 years and the NAMI Board Policy and Procedure workgroup. Was asked to be a member of the NAMI Tiger Team.
