In this webinar, Dr. Meghan Walls, a pediatric psychologist, will provide an overview of the kinds of emotional reactions we can expect from children and youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also covered will be recommendations for how parents, teachers and other caregivers can provide emotional support and reassurance to help navigate this societal crisis.
Dr. Teri Brister, author of the NAMI Basics program, will provide information about the NAMI Basics OnDemand program available online for parents and caregivers of children and youth with mental health conditions. This accessible program is valuable for parents wanting to learn more about and better help with their children’s mental health.
Dr. Meghan Walls is a pediatric psychologist in the Division of Behavioral Health at Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children and is Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with Sydney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She provides integrated primary care services in Wilmington, DE. She completed her doctorate degree at LaSalle University, residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital and fellowship at Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children.
In 2019, she was given the Nemours Physician Excellence in Community Service Award and the NAMI Delaware Healthcare Professional of the Year Award. She is the State Advocacy Chair for the Executive Council of the Delaware Psychological Association and Co-Chairs the Data and Policy Committee for the Lt. Governor's Behavioral Health Consortium. She serves on the ACCEL grants Community Advisory Committee and the Take Care Delaware steering committee. Dr. Walls is on the Board of Directors of the Society of Pediatric Psychology.
