Linh Preston

She began volunteering with NAMI Indiana as a NAMI In Our Own Voice (IOOV) presenter. She served on the NAMI Indiana board for nearly 10 years, including four as president and five in other officer positions. She also served on the NAMI State Presidents Council for six years, including three as Second Vice Chair. Linh still volunteers with NAMI Indiana as a NAMI IOOV presenter and trainer, NAMI Smarts for Advocacy trainer, and member of the advisory board, governance, and finance committees. She is a member of NAMI Greater Indianapolis. Preston first learned about NAMI when a close friend with shared lived experience joined the NAMI Indiana staff and invited her to volunteer.

Through her board service, Preston hopes to help NAMI achieve its vision by teaching others the joy of giving through NAMI’s work; inspiring NAMI volunteers to grow in their own involvement and leadership at the local, state, and national level; and supporting NAMI staff who are mission-critical in serving peers, families, and communities across the country.

In 2024, Preston received the NAMI Indiana President’s Award, which recognizes extraordinary service with statewide impact and long lasting, special contribution to NAMI Indiana’s mission.

She earned a Master of Arts in philanthropic studies and an Master Public Administration in nonprofit management from Indiana University, and certificates in Fundraising Management (CFRM) and Fundraising Leadership (CFRL) through The Fund Raising School at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, where she is an adjunct faculty member. She is a nonprofit management specialist and writer in Indiana.
