Church-Affiliated Mental Health Clinic May Help Address Barriers in Black Communities

[…] support. A recent study explored the potential of a church-affiliated mental health clinic to help address these challenges. Researchers interviewed 15 clients of the HOPE Center in Harlem, New York, which offers free, evidence-based psychotherapy provided by licensed clinicians. Overall, participants reported that they were more comfortable seeking mental health treatment when services were affiliated with a trusted institution, integrated cultural understanding and faith, and free-of-charge. The findings suggest the promise of alternative interventions to address  stigma and structural barriers to care within Black communities. To learn more, see the study in Psychiatric Services.

FDA Approves Over-the-Counter Naloxone Spray
