Join The NAMI Team!

NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for mission-driven professionals to join our team.

Our Culture

NAMI strives to create an environment where every NAMI employee has a positive experience. Through a human-centered approach that is guided by our values and service delivery model, NAMI is committed to ensuring that every employee, stakeholder and participant feels valued, included, safe and appreciated at NAMI. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NAMI changed its work environment from in the office five days a week to a hybrid work environment, for most positions, where most employees work from the office two days a week and work remotely three days a week.

Our Values

All our work at NAMI is guided by our five core values:

We believe in the possibility of recovery, wellness, and the potential in all of us.

Inclusion Icon

We embrace diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.

Empowerment Icon

We promote confidence, self-efficacy, and service to our mission.

Compassion Icon

We practice respect, kindness, and empathy.

Fairness Icon

We fight for equity and justice.

Our Commitment To DEI

NAMI values and is strengthened by diversity. At NAMI, we believe a diverse, inclusive and equitable organization is one where all employees, volunteers and members — regardless of gender, race, gender identity, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation, education, disability, veteran status or other dimension of diversity — feel valued and respected. We prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion as an integral part of our culture.

We are committed to providing informed, authentic leadership for cultural equity and modeling diversity and inclusion for the entire NAMI alliance. We shall:

  • See diversity, inclusion and equity as critical to ensure the well-being of our staff.
  • Identify and dismantle inequities within our policies, systems, programs and services.
  • Explore potential underlying, unquestioned assumptions that interfere with inclusiveness.
  • Practice and encourage transparent communication with staff.
  • Lead with respect and tolerance.

We expect all employees to embrace this notion and to express it in workplace interactions and through everyday practice. We are committed to a nondiscriminatory approach and to providing equal opportunity for employment, participation and advancement in all programs and worksites.

Our Commitment To Pay Equity

Our fair compensation philosophy is important. We conduct salary surveys and analyze relevant market pay data on a regular basis. NAMI is committed to fair and equitable hiring with salaries based on relevant factors, such as work experience, education and certification/licensure (rather than wage history). Toward the principle of equal pay for equal work, we post and hire within defined hiring salary ranges. We ask all applicants to carefully review the hiring salary range for each posted job opportunity, as we will not hire outside the predetermined range.
