Meet The Board

The NAMI National Board of Directors provide strategic guidance in the fulfillment of NAMI’s mission to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

This board is made up of:

  • 15 directors elected by NAMI membership (5 directors annually)
  • One director elected director from the Peer Leadership Council
  • One director from the Executive Directors Council
  • Up to two at-large voting, ex-officio members (who provide additional skills, expertise and knowledge to strengthen the Alliance and fill strategic needs)
  • Two Next Gen ex-officio, non-voting Board members (to provide a young adult perspective)

Members can submit bylaw amendments and resolutions to be considered each year during the elections at the annual Convention.

**It is the President’s discretion to have an Immediate Past President, who is a non-voting ex-officio member.

This email address will route to NAMI staff who will make sure the information is passed to the relevant Board member, committee chair or staff person if staff is better equipped to provide a faster response.

The minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors are made publicly available to ensure transparency.
