Information, Support and Education
Julie Erickson oversees the NAMI Family Support Group and NAMI In Our Own Voice. She also supervises the specialists and coordinators on the Information, Support & Education team. Julie’s overarching goal is to use her skills to improve the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
Prior to NAMI, she served two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in a small town in rural Paraguay. There, she oversaw the founding of a community library—an undertaking she successfully ran from planning and development to inauguration. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s in Spanish and international studies and a master’s in urban and regional planning with a graduate certificate in nonprofit management.
What do you wish more people knew about NAMI?
I wish more people knew about the free programs we offer locally and how to sign up for them.
What’s something about you that would surprise others?
I can speak a little Guarani, a language indigenous to Paraguay.
