For several years, Angela served as NAMI’s Director of State Advocacy. She received several awards for her legislative work on children’s mental health reform and mental health parity.

Angela graduated from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

What piece of your work at NAMI are you most proud of?

I am particularly proud to be co-author (with Val Hunter) of NAMI Smarts for Advocacy. I am inspired every time I hear people share their story in a powerful way to influence mental health care.

What’s something about you that would surprise others?

I lived in Japan as a child and again in college. I was strongly influenced by their art and culture of collaboration—and impressive and amusing array of school supplies.
