Meet José Caballero (he/him), a 19-year-old hailing from Miami, FL, currently pursuing a Cognitive Science degree at Columbia University. José has a love for empirical and observational research methods and plans to bring his lived experience with alienation, intergenerational trauma, first-generation students, and socioeconomic and language barriers to the work of NAMI Next Gen. José actively engages in mental health storytelling, multicultural intersectionality, and enriching mental health journeys for first-generation students. You can find him on Columbia University’s lawns in his free time, reading literature and listening to Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
