The Availability of Peer Support and Disparities in Outpatient Mental Health Service Use Among Minority Youth with Serious Mental Illness
Found that having a peer specialist on staff was associated with increases in outpatient service use in both counties, and with reduced disparities in service use among Black and Latinx youth in Los Angeles County. The availability of a peer specialist with racial/ethnic concordance was also associated with greater outpatient service use among Latinx youth in both counties.
