Making Mental Health Accessible in the Latinx Community
Meet Dr. Pierluigi Mancini, a NAMI partner and mental health advocate. He shares his story of seeing his family struggle, but not understanding why. Later in life, he learned these family members were dealing with mental health conditions, and due to cultural stigmas, no one spoke out about it. When Pierluigi began to experiment with drugs and alcohol, he sought out treatment which led him to heal and he discovered his desire to become a clinician. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health in the Latinx community and to offering culturally competent care and resources in Spanish.
