The AKA-NAMI Partnership gives us the opportunity to engage in numerous activities to get the word out to our communities. Explore the options on this page to decide what is best for your organization.

These are some of the occasions and events you may want to plan or support:

  • National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (July): This month, named in honor of AKA and NAMI member Bebe Moore Campbell, focuses on raising mental health awareness in diverse communities. As the month approaches, visit this section to access marketing materials such as flyers, press releases and memes.

  • Mental Illness Awareness Week: The first week of October focuses on raising mental health awareness for everyone. As the week approaches, visit this section to access marketing materials to help promote our events and spread awareness.

  • NAMIWalks (Optional): As the signature public awareness activity for NAMI, NAMIWalks has become the most prominent mental health event in the country.  NAMIWalks events are changing how people view mental health conditions. By joining a NAMIWalks event, you help provide a visible and clear message of support for people with mental health conditions. Strengthened by our collective voices, the NAMIWalks program creates opportunities toward realizing a world where all persons affected by mental health conditions experience resiliency, recovery when possible, and support.
