NAMI Next Gen

Tesia Shi (she/her/hers) is a current senior Psychology/Biology double major at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). She co-founded Lean On Me College Park in June 2020, a peer-to-peer non-crisis text line, to offer a text resource for students over COVID-19. She has also volunteered on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and worked to promote bystander intervention around power-based violence at UMD.

She is looking forward to working with other NAMI Next Gen members to increase peer support and develop creative initiatives to decrease mental health stigma, especially in communities that traditionally have lower mental health-seeking rates. Outside of these activities, she enjoys munching on bagels and attempting to learn how to hula hoop.
